Less said about the fate of #1 the better, but I rolled up at the lunch stop on a new generation Tri-Glide, and having switched into three-wheeled mode, I made the most of the opportunity to be among the very first European journalists to play with the Freewheeler, and what a blast!
The fact that it was the only bike there with absolutely no weather protection, and was the one I was riding in jeans and a decent Halvarssons warerproof leather jacket when the Washington skies opened for the last hour’s riding of the day did little to dampen my enthusiasm for it, and while it could tell me nothing about the improved suspension that has accompanied the Milwaukee-8, it spoke volumes about the motor, which represents a massive improvement on the Twin Cam for my tastes.
Lots more to say on the motor, but that’s to follow: I really need to spend some time on a stock 107 with just two wheels.
