It’s surprising how recently air filters emerged: it wasn’t that long ago that carbs had rear facing air ‘horns’ to keep dirt – and trousers – out of your carburettor rather than abrasive dust, then a mesh was added and that mesh has just got finer over time.
This cast, tumbled-finish aluminium scoop – with a stainless-steel mesh to catch bigger insects and stones – will feed enough air to the carb to supply even a big-inch engine and looks funky when doing so, but does nothing to reduce induction roar: a win-win situation then?
