Looking for a bike boot that doesn’t look like it came from an army surplus store or has an ankle shaped for rearsets?
TCX Boots has just launched/updated an interesting range under the umbrella of their Lifestyle Riding line, and while they look like trainers – indeed, they refer to them as their Biker Sneakers – they have CE approval and are designed to be as useful off as on the bike.
The District Waterproof are designed for riders looking for a casually-styled but fully protective boot and mimic a modern high-top trainer. They are available in either a gunmetal and black upper with brown sole or in black-on-black, and feature a T-Dry waterproof membrane and reinforcements in the malleolus, shift pad, toe and heel areas, with a thermoplastic polyurethane sole that has been paired with an Ortholite footbed for high levels of comfort.
The Street Ace Waterproof boots are not new, as such, but they have been released in alternative colours for 2020. Constructed from full grain leather with a scratched waxy finish – and again featuring a T-Dry waterproof lining – they have a vintage look straight out of the box but their traditional-looking – and replaceable – soles are anatomically designed and constructed from a high wear-resistant rubber, designed for comfort on and off the bike. Again they are well reinforced in the malleolus, toe and heel areas.
And one for the ladies: the Street Ace comes in a specific women’s fitment, which has exactly the same design and protection as the men’s boot, but a sole better suited to the female foot and has an internal 2.5cm heel.
