My first experience of their potential was fitting a Shorai from MAG Europe to my Buell Cyclone, which spins the 1203cc Sportster-derived motor like as Superdream with the plugs out, and their light weight and astonishing performance when coupled to an efficient electric motor hasn’t just allowed Harley-Davidson to make a viable motorcycle, they have allowed Harley-Davidson to make an exciting motorcycle with Buell-like throttle response, and a motorcycle that I would gladly park next to my Shovelhead. And this is only a prototype/concept!

Battery tech is improving all the time – as are motors – which will inevitably lead to increased range and faster charging times.

I used to think it would be a cold day in hell before I would ride an electric motorcycle, but it turns out that a wet day at Millbrook – and the Harley-Davidson Project Livewire – has changed that.
