Having made a good name for themselves at the lifestyle end of the market, Burly have branched out into cool-looking tank/tailbags, saddlebags and backpacks with their own vibe, and packed full of features.
All are available in a choice of ‘Dark Oak’ or ‘Black’, in the first instance being cotton canvas and leather, the second Cordura and leather.
The Voyager Tank/Tail Bag isn’t your average tank bag to look at, even if it does have the same function. It just looks better: it looks cool, and that’s not something you can ever imagine calling a tank bag in the past. It’s still held on by magnets – backed-up by leather straps – or its own rack/flange that you can mount on your tail, if that’s not magnetic.
It has a carrying handle, two exterior zipper pockets, a generous interior space and the clear map pocket in the top – which obviously doubles-up for your phone or a small tablet in the 21st Century, with a pass-thru port from the main bag for a charging lead – is secured by a magnet and removable. And to protect your paint, all straps use an anti-flail Burly-branded snap system.
The substantial matching Voyager Saddlebag is a pre-shaped functional piece of 
luggage formed around a metal and polyethylene internal frame, and uses a proven roll-top closure. That, in turn, is concealed beneath a shield to keep the worst of the road dirt at bay.
It uses ‘moto-centric’ speed buckles and zippers, anti-flail snaps, and is held in a quick release pin-lock bracket system that allows easy conversion into a messenger bag with a pad on its shoulder strap bearing what looks like becoming a Burly signature flannel.
And if you don’t want to clutter your bike with luggage, you’ve always got the Voyager Back Pack, which combines all of the features of the luggage above with a padded interior and partition for a 15-inch laptop. The roll-top, anti-flail snaps, broad Burly flannel straps and leather exterior panels for strength and support look like making this the money shot.
Just need to work out whether you’re going for the semi-tech Cordura or distressed wax-treated, dark oak cotton canvas.
