\"\"<\/a>This is a weird one because it’s almost a revisited review \u2026 except that we didn\u2019t review these when they were new. And they are available in such small numbers now that you might question the value of reviewing it at all, but hey?<\/p>\n

Some years ago \u2013 many, many years ago \u2013 Custom Chrome Europe had a range of tan leather riding gear comprising at least a pair of 5-pocket leather jeans, a pair of chaps and these duster coats, as I\u2019ve seen these on hangers in the\u00a0Hogfather Motorcycles for years. And as Hogfather has closed down their physical operation to concentrate on online business \u2013 as a last chance to see if they\u2019re a utterly impractical as they seemed \u2013 I asked if I could find out.<\/p>\n

The worst that could happen was that they were just that and they would end up in someone\u2019s fancy dress box, but Custom\u00a0Chrome don\u2019t mess about when it comes the quality of stuff that they put their name on.<\/p>\n

What if they turned out to be as good as they could be?<\/p>\n

The jackets do have an issue. Somebody thought it would be a great idea to use painted studs as fasteners.<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Not because\u00a0the fasteners aren\u2019t up to the job \u2013 you wouldn\u2019t believe how\u00a0windproof a jacket that doesn\u2019t have a full zippered closure can\u00a0be unless you\u2019ve tried one \u2013 but because the paint has marked the\u00a0beautifully supple, slightly oiled, oh-so thick and luxuriant leather.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not a deal breaker, though. Leather looks better when it has been bedded-in over a few miles, and tan leather will surely\u00a0tone down quicker than black?<\/p>\n

Well, you\u2019d think so.<\/p>\n
