It doesn\u2019t replace the clutch lever \u2013 indeed, you still pull the clutch in to engage first gear, and it\u2019s recommended that you still use the clutch through the box \u2013 but you don\u2019t need to\u00a0use it when rolling to a halt or pulling away from a standstill, in which case it is reckoned to\u00a0be smoother than the lever.<\/p>\n

Rekluse suggest that it\u2019ll control take off better than most riders can with no shake or judder, and no chance of stalling \u2013 even pulling away clean from a standstill in\u00a0second!!<\/p>\n

And how does it do this?<\/p>\n

With a new set of plates topped-off with a billet EXP pressure plate \u2013 which is the clever bit.<\/p>\n

It takes some setting up but the rewards in traffic on a stock motor are less heat, smoother acceleration and low speed control, and on a\u00a0tuned motor \u2013 Rekluse fit them to big inch, high-horsepower motors as a matter of course \u2013 it transforms any journey.<\/p>\n

For our purposes here, we are talking about a new addition to\u00a0Rekluse\u2019s range: for 1995-2020 Sportster models. It has just hit Drag\u00a0Spec\u2019s 2020 catalogue and we understand Leeds Harley-Davidson have fitted one to one of their demos, and sold a couple of conversions off that already!<\/p>\n

No modifications to stock components are required, and the original clutch lever can still\u00a0be used conventionally \u2013 albeit with an improved action \u2013 and the proof of the pudding will\u00a0be the traffic light dragstrip \u2026 self-isolation aside, I must get along and give it a try.<\/p>\n
