\"\"<\/a>Harley-Davidson is justifiably renowned for getting the\u00a0maximum benefit out of their branding, but they can also\u00a0do things more subtly and this anniversary jacket in a dull\u00a0heavyweight buffalo leather \u2013 trimmed with contrasting\u00a0distressed cowhide stripes on the arms, subtle anniversary\u00a0badges and appliqu\u00e9 graphics on the back \u2013 is a case in\u00a0point.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Used to demonstrate how The Motor Company have\u00a0embraced the new CE regulation at the Ride Ride Slide\u00a0event in Croatia, it is far from the first jacket they have\u00a0produced that complies with CE. \"\"<\/a>They adopted it last year for all clothing and making sure that all dealers were\u00a0compliant as of April this year.<\/p>\n

It is also far from being the first leather jacket they have\u00a0made: they started in 1947 with a classic black leather\u00a0jacket, updating that in 1952 and giving it a name \u2013 the\u00a0Cycle Champ \u2013 in a shorter style for the\u00a0princely sum of $32.50, with the ladies\u00a0being a few bucks less at $25.95.<\/p>\n

Fully embracing the new CE principles,\u00a0the leather itself has passed independent\u00a0testing for abrasion resistance, impact\u00a0testing and seam bursting, \"\"<\/a>as well as being\u00a0fitted with CE approved armour at the\u00a0elbows and shoulders and pocketed for a\u00a0back protector.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>A thin removable full liner makes this a\u00a0proper extended three season jacket, and\u00a0has the interesting feature of replicating\u00a0the pockets in the outer shell exactly,\u00a0which made me transfer between them\u00a0almost automatically, the only additional\u00a0one being the ubiquitous wallet pocket in\u00a0the jacket itself, and always available.<\/p>\n

For fit, adjustable straps at the waist on branded studs\u00a0keeps the jacket tight to your body, unless your stomach\u00a0is already doing that, and an unusual feature at the cuffs is\u00a0that the three-way adjustment is independent of the zip, so\u00a0once it is adjusted you can leave it set.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>As mentioned, the branding is subtle,\u00a0not least because the accent colour is\u00a0Anniversary Blue which doesn\u2019t stand\u00a0out as much as their regular orange, and it is\u00a0particularly interesting to note\u00a0that while CE regs are turning\u00a0motorcycle clothing into PPE,\u00a0this follows the current trend\u00a0of having no retro-reflective\u00a0elements.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The only other visible\u00a0Anniversary references\u00a0are on the upper arm\u00a0on the right-hand\u00a0side, and a strip\u00a0across the comfort\u00a0liner of the main\u00a0jacket body.<\/p>\n

A good looking\u00a0jacket that feels\u00a0good and robust,\u00a0and allows you to\u00a0wear the brand\u00a0without feeling too\u00a0much like a clothes\u00a0horse.<\/p>\n
