And aided by clearly captioned, high\u00a0quality photographs reproduced beautifully on decent paper you get a list of ingredients at the\u00a0beginning of each chapter \u2013 in the form of special tools\u00a0and consumables \u2013 and precise measurements throughout.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s not just the \u2018how\u2019 but the \u2018why\u2019, and if you don\u2019t\u00a0have a good understanding of how and engine works,\u00a0but want to be able to speak with authority about Timkin bearings and torque procedures, this will be an education,\u00a0because the real strength of this book is its accessibility.<\/p>\n<p>Maida is a natural writer and manages to get across\u00a0complicated engineering in simple terms, and in\u00a0remarkably few pages. It is written in a prose style rather\u00a0than manual-speak, which makes it easier to read than\u00a0to quickly refer to, but that can make things easier to\u00a0understand.<\/p>\n<p>With the easy to follow text accompanied by the\u00a0comprehensive photographs, you don\u2019t need to read it in\u00a0the workshop with the book in one hand and a <a href=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3041  alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-1024x702.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"503\" height=\"345\" srcset=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-1024x702.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-200x137.jpg 200w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-600x411.jpg 600w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-768x526.jpg 768w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-100x69.jpg 100w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-862x591.jpg 862w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948-1200x822.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Evo-Hop-Up-chapter-head-e1550279244948.jpg 1658w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 503px) 100vw, 503px\" \/><\/a>spanner\u00a0in the other: you make your own notes, specific to the\u00a0job you\u2019re doing, and will have a clear idea what you can\u00a0expect to find.<\/p>\n<p>Other than the\u00a0improvements derived\u00a0from putting the\u00a0engine together\u00a0properly, with\u00a0everything calibrated, measured and within tolerance,\u00a0the hop-up element is dealt with in the final chapter.<\/p>\n<p>Divided into a further eleven sections, this is as concise\u00a0an explanation of tuning theory as I have come across,\u00a0cutting straight to the chase, but again assumes a level of\u00a0engineering competence of anyone who is going to get\u00a0the most out of it.
