{"id":3003,"date":"2018-01-05T19:08:06","date_gmt":"2018-01-05T19:08:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/?p=3003"},"modified":"2019-02-16T00:59:29","modified_gmt":"2019-02-16T00:59:29","slug":"xcp-professional-motorcycle-maintenance-pack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/xcp-professional-motorcycle-maintenance-pack\/","title":{"rendered":"REVIEW: XCP Professional Motorcycle Maintenance Pack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>How many new sprays,\u00a0chemistries and concepts can\u00a0there possibly be, when it\u00a0comes to protecting your bike?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apparently, at least\u00a0one more, and that is this\u00a0Motorcycle Maintenance Pack\u00a0comprising three things that I\u00a0genuinely need for one of my\u00a0bikes, and two of which for the\u00a0rest.<\/p>\n<p>This is going to be a long\u00a0term test because short of\u00a0coating my Shovelhead with\u00a0the stuff and parking it on a\u00a0lifeboat slipway for a month,\u00a0there is no easy way to\u00a0accelerate the effects of weather,\u00a0so I\u2019m going to focus on the\u00a0principles for now, and we\u2019ll\u00a0come back to it.<\/p>\n<p>So, three things: a rust\u00a0blocker, a high performance\u00a0multipurpose maintenance\u00a0spray and a chain lubricant &#8230;\u00a0and an extension nozzle so you\u00a0can spray in inaccessible places,\u00a0three microfibre cloths and a\u00a0detailing brush.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3005 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"264\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-200x267.jpg 200w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-100x133.jpg 100w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-862x1149.jpg 862w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233-1200x1600.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010233.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 264px) 100vw, 264px\" \/><\/a>Chain Lubricant.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Yes, most of you are running\u00a0nice clean, maintenance-free\u00a0belts on your Harleys \u2013 I am\u00a0on my Buell and Victory \u2013 but\u00a0for those of us afflicted with a\u00a0chain drive, who have to spend\u00a0literally minutes and tens of pounds replacing a tired old\u00a0chain for a brand new every now and again, this is really\u00a0interesting &#8230; unless their chain oiler\u00a0is still connected, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Why do we love belts?<\/p>\n<p>Because they are clean. No more\u00a0grease from the chain covering the\u00a0primary side of your big-twin or\u00a0timing-side of your Sportster.<\/p>\n<p>We could, of course, shell out\u00a0for an O-ring chain, which keeps\u00a0everything in, but we don\u2019t: we\u2019re\u00a0running 50hp torque monsters not\u00a0150hp Superbikes, and don\u2019t see the\u00a0merit in spending a small fortune on\u00a0technology that we\u2019re not going to get\u00a0the benefit from.<\/p>\n<p>This, however, could be what we\u2019ve\u00a0been waiting for. It lays down a thin,\u00a0even and dry coating on the links \u2013 which it also penetrates \u2013 which\u00a0reduces friction, withstands extreme\u00a0pressures, minimises long term wear\u00a0and maximises power transfer.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s easy enough to say but\u00a0having just fitted a new chain to the\u00a0Low Rider, I\u2019ve got the perfect test for\u00a0it \u2013 and the extension straw tucked in\u00a0the cap is a good start, having made it\u00a0much easier to apply than expected.<\/p>\n<h4><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3006\" src=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"592\" srcset=\"https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-200x267.jpg 200w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-600x800.jpg 600w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-100x133.jpg 100w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-862x1149.jpg 862w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240-1200x1600.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/american-v.cso2w.com\/hub\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/AH010240.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 444px) 100vw, 444px\" \/><\/a>High Performance Multipurpose Spray.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We have all used such sprays in our time, and have our\u00a0favourites, but this is claimed to be up to 50% more\u00a0effective than the market leader, and is recommended by\u00a0the AA.<\/p>\n<p>Like all such sprays it loosens rusty bolts, lubricates,\u00a0gets under grime and grease to aid cleaning and leaves a\u00a0protective layer behind to prevent rust and corrosion, and\u00a0it will displace moisture from your electrics \u2013 all essential\u00a0things for all weather riders \u2013 but the suggestion is that it\u00a0does the job better.<\/p>\n<p>With winter here, and hopefully some down time in\u00a0December to get my spanners out, I\u2019ll be testing the claims\u00a0against the two I\u2019ve been using to date.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Rust Blocker.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Now this one is really interesting, because it comes with a\u00a0lot of supporting tests against industry leaders. And while\u00a0the Shovel shrugs off inclement weather, the Buell uses\u00a0lesser, lighter materials and the Chinese outfit is frankly\u00a0appalling.<\/p>\n<p>Claimed to protect for up to 500 times longer than\u00a0multipurpose sprays and at least twice as long as a leading\u00a0specialist brand \u2013 both using a recognised salt spray testing\u00a0method \u2013 this should keep my stuff protected through\u00a0winter, while the manufacturer\u2019s press fleets are tucked up\u00a0out of the foul weather.<\/p>\n<p>Watch this space for more details, and check out their\u00a0website for the pitch from Edd China off the telly.<\/p>\n<h6>Motorcycle Maintenance\u00a0Pack RRP : \u00a329.99<\/h6>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: right;\">xcp-protection.com<\/h5>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How many new sprays,\u00a0chemistries and concepts can\u00a0there possibly be, when it\u00a0comes to protecting your bike?
